4Music is a sister channel to Channel 4 that plays nothing but the hottest pop music in the charts. First airing in 2008, being a replacement for the then co-owned channel, The Hits, 4Music also airs hit chart shows from The Official UK Charts Company.

I discovered 4Music back in 2013 as a part of my music channel obsession at the time and didn't really think much of it. (I was more of a Starz / The Box person). However, the break bumpers and on-air branding with the blocks did catch my attention.

Branding aside, the channel has an oddly pop-like flair that feels really unique and inreplicatable. With it also being a part of Channel 4's repertoire of channels, it also gives thheir viewers a chance to get closer within the showbiz and music industry that no other channels can compete with. And since I first discovered it in 2013, when the pop music scene was at an experimental high, it was really wild to see all of these artists and songs given their chance to shine on national television. I may be sugar-coating a lot of it it, but it was like Channel 4's own MTV. Now, where's that 2008 instrumental music? That bops.
