THING THING RM94's Hyperfixations
What is it?

Sky One was a pay-tv television channel owned by Sky that launched in 1982 as "Satellite Television", which then got the name (which alternated from Sky One & Sky 1) from 1989 onwards. It went defunct recently in 2021, to help open up both Sky Showcase and Sky Max.

When did you develop an interest to it and how?

I first discovered the channel, as well as Sky Two and Sky Three, back in 2009 when browsing on TVArk and grew a fondness for the "Top-Down" era idents used from 2005-2009, along with the then-going "Statue" era idents from 2008-2011.

Why does this interest me in general?

I think the "Top-Down" era idents kinda drew me to this channel at a young age. You see, I was waaaay too young to be watching some of the stuff on that channel, but I do remember seeing idents as a sort of mid-appetising taster for what's to come in my more mature years. Looking back on the channel now, I really regret not checking it out sooner as it had some really class content. The Simpsons, 24, Hex, Are You Smarter Than a 10 Year Old?, Futurama, all of these shows where a prominent part of what made Sky One such a golden pay-tv channel. Rest well, Sky One. And screw channel renamings to hell.
